You will soon realise if
you are perusing these pages that I have two hobbies that draw me to the north
of France and Belgium. An interest in the Sites of the First World War, and
these pages dedicated to a swiftly acquired taste for the stunning array of
beers that Belgium provides.
Over the past few years there has also been a resurgence of beer production in Northern France with an expansion in the range of beers available from a growing number of breweries.
The land isn't suitable for wine growing but the French are now producing some very good beers along the Belgian border.
In a bar, prepare yourself for at least double the price, and remember: there is a stepped tariff in most bars; extra for sitting; and even more for a place on the terrace.
These pages give a few details and ideas of some excellent beers. Some are plain, some are full of flavour, but there is one here to suit most moods. Certainly mine anyway.
